What is Feedforward Neural Network?
A feed-forward neural network is a fundamental concept in the field of generative AI and plays a crucial role in many applications, including text generation, image synthesis, and music composition. It represents a type of artificial neural network where information flows in one direction, from the input layer through a series of hidden layers to the output layer, without forming cycles or feedback connections.
At its core, a feed-forward neural network consists of interconnected nodes, known as neurons or units, organized into layers. The network typically includes an input layer, one or more hidden layers, and an output layer. Each neuron receives inputs, applies a transformation to them, and produces an output, which is then passed to the next layer.Feed-forward neural networks are often used to model and generate data. For example, in text generation, the network can be trained on a large corpus of text and then used to generate new, coherent sentences or paragraphs. Similarly, in image synthesis, a feed-forward neural network can be trained to generate realistic images based on input patterns or random noise.
The process of training a feed-forward neural network involves two main steps: forward propagation and backpropagation. During forward propagation, the network takes an input and passes it through the layers, applying weighted transformations and activation functions at each neuron to produce an output. The output is then compared to the desired target output, and an error value is calculated.
